After hearing so much about The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, I decided to give it a try. The first half of the book disappointed me only because I’d heard rave reviews; the second half, however, sped up a bit and made up for it. The book has a lot going on at once: a mystery, complex characters, and a political/journalistic side story at the heart of the characters’ situations. My favorite aspect of the book was the subtle way in which Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander were characterized. Overall, I’d recommend the book if you’re looking for a good summer read, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. For movie lovers, a film version of the book starring Daniel Craig is coming to theaters this December 21!
