Mission Statement

The Hilda C. Landers Library & Archives is a visionary, inventive, and resourceful organization that develops an ethically and socially responsible community. We provide equitable access to information and tools that support the pursuit of knowledge, at all levels, in all disciplines by empowering users to learn, collaborate and create.

Values

Access

We make our resources (collections, facilities, technology) and services readily and equitably accessible to the St. Mary’s College community.

Intellectual Freedom

We respect and defend users’ privacy and their right to access information from diverse perspectives without restriction or judgement.

Learning

We foster a student-centered educational environment focused on inquiry. We provide collections, facilities, technology, and services that support teaching and learning in all its forms.

Service

We provide service that is welcoming, responsive, consistent, transparent, and equitable. We embrace feedback and make evidence-based decisions to develop, implement, and support resources (collections, facilities, technology) and services that contribute to the success of our students.

Social Responsibility

We engage in and foster discourse that questions and challenges the structures in which we live.

Student Engagement

We keep students at the forefront of all we do, including teaching in and out of the classroom, developing resources (collections, facilities, technology), and providing services that meet the needs of our students.

Transparency

We communicate information regarding our operations, resources, and services openly and honestly.
