
Borrow Items
The following individuals are eligible to borrow materials from Hilda C. Landers Library:
- St. Mary’s College of Maryland students, faculty, and staff
- St. Mary’s College of Maryland alumni
- Residents of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties
- Students, faculty, and staff from other USMAI campuses

Peripherals
The following items are available for a six-hour loan period: laptop and phone chargers, external DVD drives, headphones, flash drives, extension cords, and ethernet cables. These items are not renewable, and will incur a Lost fine if not returned within a timely manner.
Course Reserves
St. Mary’s College of Maryland students may borrow materials on Course Reserves as instructed by their professors. Loan periods vary, but most are for three hours. To find out what an instructor has placed on reserve, search the Course Reserves catalog.
Additional Circulating items
Current St. Mary’s College of Maryland students may borrow dry erase markers and erasers, calculators, and colored pencils.
Return Items
Books, DVDs, and CDs may be returned to the book drop in the Library lobby. Peripherals and Course Reserves must be returned to the Circulation Desk. Patrons do not incur fines for returning Hilda C. Landers materials past their due date, although a “lost” fee may be incurred when an item is more than 60 days overdue. You can learn more by reading the Library’s No-Fine Policy.
Renewing Items
Patrons from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, USMAI campuses, and local borrowers may renew library materials online through their Library Account or in person at the Circulation Desk. Please refer/see Borrowing Privileges chart at the top of the webpage for renewal terms.
Request Items
Patrons from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and other USMAI campuses may request physical items through the USMAI Catalog’s “Request this item” feature. Physical items not held by a USMAI library, plus any journal article or any book chapter, may be requested through Interlibrary Loan.
