New Library System Migration Key Dates!

May 2, 2024 by Stephanie Reyes

In February this year, Hilda C. Landers Library announced  that it would be implementing a new integrated library system. The new system is set to go live on May 23, 2024.

There are some aspects of the migration that will minimally affect users and their accounts. Below is a timeline of key dates leading up to the go-live date.

Date What will  be happening
April 1, 2024

Starting Monday, April 1st at 5pm:

Patrons (that’s you!) will not be able to see their Interlibrary loans (ILL) in their My Accounts within the USMAI catalog.

What does this mean?

If you checked out an item through Interlibrary Loan (ILL), you won’t be able to see it in your library account. Instead, you can view it through your ILLiad account here. This does not include items checked out through USMAI.

May 17 thru May 22 2024
Starting Friday, May 17 at 5pm:

Circulation freeze in our old system Aleph.

What does this mean?

  • Patrons will not be able to place holds or request any items through the catalog. You will however by able to place physical requests through Illiad.
  • You are still able to check out  and return materials to SMCM library.
  • Processing times may be slower. Please be patient with us as we enter information manually.
  • If you have not done so already, make sure that you download or email yourself any saved items/searches under your library account within the catalogUSMAI. More information on that here.
May 23, 2024

On Thursday, May 23, 2024:

New Integrated Library System goes live!

You’ll be able to use the updated OneSearch interface. You’ll also be able to see your library loans under the updated search as well.
