April 22, 2026 by Haley Galloway

We want to make our users aware that Interlibrary Loan article delivery is currently down for repairs.

If you have placed an article request within the last week and have not yet received your article via email or through the web page, please know that your request has not been lost. Our team is actively working to restore delivery functionality as quickly as possible.

We appreciate your patience during this time and will share an update as soon as the service is back up. Thank you for your understanding!

If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Interlibrary Loan Technician Elisia Lewis at elewis1@smcm.edu.

Introducing Our New Interlibrary Loan Interface

April 16, 2026 by Haley Galloway

Starting April 17th, the library’s Interlibrary Loan service, ILLiad, will launch a refreshed website with a new, user-friendly interface designed to make requesting materials easier than ever.

The updated interface is built to meet Title II Digital Accessibility requirements, ensuring the service is accessible to all users. Along with the new look, you’ll find several helpful improvements:

  • Self-service loan renewals: renew your own loans directly through the portal, up to one time per item
  • Expanded request options: submit requests for a wider variety of materials
  • Article request DOI feature: enter a DOI to automatically populate your request form, or instantly download the article if it is publicly available
  • FAQs and ILL guidelines page: a dedicated resource to help you navigate the service with confidence

Please note that we may make minor tweaks after launch, though these should not affect your ability to place or view requests.

If you have any questions or run into any issues after April 17th, don’t hesitate to reach out to Interlibrary Loan Technician Elisia Lewis at elewis1@smcm.edu.

Our New E-Resources Accessibility Guide

April 13, 2026 by Haley Galloway

At Hilda C. Landers Library & Archives, we believe that access to information should be equitable for everyone. As changes to ADA Title II go into effect on April 24, 2026, we want to be transparent about the accessibility of the digital tools and resources we provide.

That’s why we’ve created a new guide: Accessibility Information for E-Resources.

What is this guide?

This guide provides accessibility information for the third-party databases, journals, streaming media, ebooks, and software that the Hilda C. Landers Library & Archives subscribes to or maintains. Each entry includes links to vendor accessibility statements and Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) where available.

Why does this matter?

Third-party vendors provide many of the digital tools you use every day for research, reading, and learning. While we cannot control how those vendors build their platforms, we can be transparent about their accessibility commitments.

What is Title II?

Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires state and local government entities to ensure their programs, services, and digital content are accessible to people with disabilities.

What’s included in the guide?

The guide covers dozens of vendors and platforms, including EBSCO, JSTOR, ProQuest, Gale, Kanopy, and many more. Each entry includes available accessibility documentation such as vendor statements, VPATs, and third-party reviews.

Explore Our DVD & Blu-ray Collection Spreadsheet

April 13, 2026 by Haley Galloway

We’re excited to share a new resource to help you make the most of our physical media collection. The Library has published a Google Spreadsheet listing all of our DVDs and Blu-rays, updated as of April 2026.

Whether you’re browsing for your next film to enjoy or searching for titles SMCM holds Public Performance Rights (PPR) for, this spreadsheet makes it easy to explore what’s available.

What are Public Performance Rights?
PPR allows a film to be shown to an audience beyond personal, private viewing—such as a campus event or community screening—without requiring a separate license. Faculty and event organizers can use this list to identify which titles in our collection are already cleared for public showings.

How to use the spreadsheet:

  • Browse the full list of DVDs and Blu-rays in our collection
  • Filter or search for specific titles or formats
  • Identify titles where the College holds Public Performance Rights

Have questions about our collection or Public Performance Rights? Reach out to us at the Library!

Can’t find the film you’re looking for? The library also provides access to the full catalogs for the streaming video databases Films on Demand and Academic Video Online.
