For Fall 2020, access to the library is limited to St. Mary’s students, faculty, and staff.
St. Mary’s students and staff may borrow books for a 28 day period. Books checked out to faculty are due back either on May 1st or December 1st (depending on when they were checked out during the academic year).
- Journals in Print or Microfilm format
For Fall 2020, access to all print journals (also known as periodicals) is restricted. To request a print journal issue or microfilm reel please fill out this form. You will be notified via email once the issue is ready at the Library Circulation Desk, usually within 24 hours. Journal issues and microfilm reels must be used in the library building.
- Movies and Music
DVDs and CDs are loaned to all library users for 7 days. VHS tapes and LPs are loaned to all library users for 3 days. Faculty may reserve a film for in-class viewing by submitting a Film Reservation Request.
- Laptops and Chromebooks
Only current St. Mary’s students may borrow laptops and Chromebooks. All laptops and Chromebooks are first come first serve at the Circulation Desk and available for a 2-week loan period. Laptops and Chromebooks cannot be renewed online. There is a daily overdue fine of $10.00 per day. After seven days overdue there is a “lost” fee of $500.
St. Mary’s students, faculty, and staff may borrow any of the 6 Kindles loaded with popular fiction and non-fiction books. We have 2 Kindle Paperwhites, 3 Kindle Fires, and 1 Kindle Touch.
- Electronic Peripherals
St. Mary’s students, faculty, and staff may borrow the following items for a 6-hour loan period: extension cords, ethernet cables, headphones, flash drives, external DVD drives, laptop chargers, and floppy disc drives (yes, we mean that).
Current St. Mary’s students may borrow dry erase markers and erasers, calculators, and colored pencils.
St. Mary’s students, faculty, and staff do not incur overdue fines for returning St. Mary’s library materials past their due date. You can learn more by reading the Library’s (No) Overdue Fines Policy.
Books, DVDs, and CDs may be returned to book drop in the library lobby. Electronic peripherals and Media Center equipment must be returned to the Library Circulation Desk.
St. Mary’s students, faculty, and staff may request items from the St. Mary’s Library through the Library’s online USMAI request feature. Direct borrowing between USMAI libraries is on hold for the Fall 2020 semester. Any physical item held by a USMAI library or a non-USMAI library may be requested through Interlibrary Loan.
