Service Disruption – Newspaper Archive Database

March 9, 2026 by Haley Galloway

Service Disruption: Newspaper Archive is Unavailable

Update – April 14

We’re happy to share some progress on the service restoration for Newspaper Archive. The following features are now back up and running:

  • Searching across the archive
  • Creating new clippings
  • Downloading and sharing content

We’re still working on restoring:

  • Browse functionality
  • Personal user accounts — once re-enabled, all previously saved clippings will be restored
  • Select publications that are still in the process of being recovered

We appreciate your continued patience and will share another update as work progresses.

March 09

The library database Newspaper Archive is currently unavailable due to technical difficulties. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Service is expected to resume by the end of March. We will post an update once access has been restored.

If you need assistance locating resources in the meantime, please reach out through our Ask Us form or email us directly at ask@smcm.libanswers.com.
