Will the library be closed at any point during the renovation?
No closures are planned. Our hours will remain the same throughout the summer.
Where do I return or check out books during construction?
The circulation desk has moved to the second floor, near the periodicals. See Visiting the Library During Renovation for directions from the stairs or elevator.
Are study rooms available during the renovation?
Library study rooms will be unavailable for patron use for the duration of the project. Study rooms are still available to reserve at the Learning Commons.
Is the elevator still in service?
Yes, the elevator will remain in service throughout the summer and the start of the fall semester.
How will I know where a specific service has moved to?
Signage will be posted throughout the building to direct you to relocated services. If you can’t find something, ask any staff member for help.
How can I stay updated on the renovation’s progress?

Is the Writing and Speaking Center still available during the renovation?
Yes. The Writing and Speaking Center has temporarily relocated to Reading Room 115 in the Library Annex for the duration of the renovation. Visit the Writing and Speaking Center website for tutoring hours and to make an appointment.
Is the Media Center affected by the renovation?
No. The third floor Media Center is operated by the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and is not affected by the renovation — it remains open in its current location. Visit OIT’s Media Center Facilities page for hours and further information.
